    Great video Bob, just watched it on my television 😎😎 some of those technical climbs look awesome although I’ll bet they’re pretty slippery too, I was going to say that it’s very wet out your way but I think it’s possibly going to be the same in the Peak District, I’m hoping to get out tomorrow, still waiting on my EMDR therapy to start and I’m climbing the walls☹️ trying to keep myself as busy as I can to occupy my mind, I fitted a new back tyre on my bike and did some general maintenance just to keep busy, if it’s sloppy tomorrow the new tyre will be a massive help, sorry it I’m waffling pal 🙏 have a great week 🙏🙏🙏

    Another top video Bob, your certainly living the dream pal, retired, living in a beautiful place and getting out as much as you do even if your faced with idiots in cars, walkers that are oblivious of anyone else around them and people who drop litter especially those disposable vapes, there’s just no excuse for that, ordinary litter is bad enough, they wouldn’t throw it away if it was money so why drop litter, thick morrons 😡😡 sorry to rant on your video pal but it just makes my blood pressure sky rocket ☹️

      @@yorkneytrailrider1751 I think most of us feel the same way ..the red car I could easily have held up for another 100 yards but I hate being Held up like that myself so I put myself off into the brambles in the side and waved it past and then got no response at all from it as a thank you so I was really chuckling when it met the white van. Litter wise the one that really does piss me off are Maccy D's usually thrown out of a vehicle and strewn over a few hundred yards , the nearest Maccy D is miles away so they choose to throw it out when it's quiet ...grrrr followed by lucozade and Costa cups ..I detest litter and do my best to try and remove a little bit ...there's a 26" inner tube hung on a gate that has been there weeks I should really get that picked up sometime soon . Yep we get the same locally and in the Peak District too mate, there’s no excuse for littering, they’ll not the smell of their food in their cars even though it’s in there from when they were eating it, they’re just thick in breads 😡 I hate ignorant drivers or worst still the ones that have to break their necks to get past you only to have to pull in quick and slow you down or turn into a road in front of you, I’ve had more than one occasions where I’ve nearly come to blows with drivers over that too 😡😡

    Great video Bob, looks pretty damp out there mate, what tyres and pressures do you run in the sloppy conditions, I have Maxxis Shorty on the back @ 19 PSI and Maxxis DHF @ 20 PSI, IIRC you run lower than that, I’m only asking with you mentioning that your getting some spin out, how about that with seeing a mole in the daylight hours, we saw a tiny little mouse when we went for a walk up the Derwent valley and it let us stroke it while we gave it Wotsits, it’s amazing what you can see if you keep your eyes peeled

    • @kryten1021
      @kryten1021 14 днів тому

      I've come to find Maxxis a+Assegai for the fronts my best and Vittoria E Mazza for the rear both with inserts in but the confusion started when i got the Whyte I put the decent tyres on the whyte along with my nukeproof inserts, I'm slow on road sections usually trying to keep the power down as well so ideally i will run 10 psi front and 12 to 14 rear a superb climbing set up and pretty good puncture resistance , other than the rim ding on the gutter on Moor lane which I should have avoided I've had no issues, the Cannondale is now Running an exo+ Assegai frront and a goodyear Newton St rear , which was a cheap tyre i bought when i Knew no better (it's aimed at front fitment and is pretty good in dry rock but not so good when its like it is now ) I run both Tubeless with Muc Off sealant and I've struggled getting both the rears to seal up , weeping ever so slightly thru spokes even tho the whyte was factory taped, the cannondale has my super expensive chinese wheelset on it and i taped that one 😞 , I can't be arsed re taping them and they will seal eventually (I hope lol ) so in the mean time I'm running around 25 to 26 psi rear when i set off , I did bang the cannondale front up to 22 on the old DHF for the Keswick ride with Jules as I knew there was a lot of road, you'll have to try and get over this way at some point

    • @yorkneytrailrider1751
      @yorkneytrailrider1751 14 днів тому

      That’s an interesting combination pal and one I’ve never tried before, I’ve always been quite heavy so my pressures have always had to be no lower than 18 PSI but I’ve put some more weight on but I still try to run 19 PSI in both tyres, I don’t use inserts as I prefer the squirming feeling climbing over rocks😉I’ll email you the other way pal 👍

    Glad you've done this, always fancied the Gatesgarth route up so you can take Nan Bield back to Kentmere but this a different take coming back via Mosedale. Interesting you didn't use Swindale to reach Mosedale (I've no idea if that's a rideable bridleway of course)

    • @kryten1021

      I was just being lead on this one , we were very close to Shap at one point and I saw mention of Swindale . I've not done Nan Bield via Gatescarth and Harters fell, I'm told Harters is gnarly in places. I did Nan Bield via High street and Mardale Ill Bell and found that hard. The route for this ride is on my Komoot, The reason we did it this way round was , two of them drove to Sadgill and I decided it was easier for me to drive to Stile end and ride over to meet them , hence riding back down Gatescarth sadly I ran out of batteries for the Gopro, I have plenty but only took two and filming in 4K uses them quickly . www.komoot.com/tour/1756338997?share_token=a18H5Uv3sAM4EpY1W0DdiW6577gYS2BchnmrI4uaFAbR6WI2NV&ref=wtd

I've not had more than a sniffle since 2020, I didn't even test this time as its common sense to try and not pass it all over the place and can only assume it is Covid as it has had me sat inside watching youtube feeling like shite and not even feeling like I wanted to get out and ride , it's knocked the crap out of me just as I would say a bad bout of Flu would . My mrs is in the vulnerable category and we still have some test kits so she tested and was +ve so I didn't bother testing. pretty sure I picked it up from visiting my dad in hospital, folk coughing all over in there . The Plus side towards the end of the ride I was starting to feel slightly better as you can see with my body language and today I'm starting to feel like I've more energy. I did decades of trail riding on my fully road legal trail bike. It was amazing the lack of knowledge by many ramblers, some thought they had the right to everything, here in south Wales, found the ramblers in Yorkshire better informed and nicer. I always had proper maps with designations of the trails we road, when a group of ramblers said I should not be where we are, I offered to show them the OS Landranger map of the area, they never wanted to refer to the map!! . Of course much has changed since the Crow Act of 2000, downgrading most of the RUPPs to restricted byways, most of the trails where I live were legally ridden by us, no longer since the CROW act!!

They are on analogue bikes which allows me to keep the bike in eco an occasionally turn the motor off but still keep up with them ( well on the up hills at least ). My fitness is slowly improving and as a bonus I haven't charged the bike for the last three rides and I've still got 52% battery 😄🤣.

    In the US if you’re outside with your dog and it’s within your fenced area and cannot run out it can be off-leash. If you’re with your dog off your property, it should be on a leash (except at dog parks). But if you know your dog has a habit of jumping over your fence or escaping in someway, you should have your dog on a leash, even in your own yard. You don’t have physical control of a dog if it’s not on a leash.

      @@user-nx8ii4ef7f exactly the point if the dog was under control it doesn't need it's lead but this one obviously did that's why I said it should be on a lead in a public place . There are signs all over that area put up by the landowners and farmers requesting all dogs be kept on leads as there are lots of sheep in the area and sadly each year there are far too many animals attacked by loose dogs that are not under control or on leads

    In the Uk we have public rights of way , Footpaths which are solely for pedestrians , then we have permissive footpaths where the landowner allows pedestrian access, then we have Bridleways: a highway over which the public has a right of way on foot, horseback and on a pedal cycle (including mountain-bikes). There may also be a right to drive animals along a bridleway. , then we have byways also known as B O A T's which are byways open to all traffic which can have pedestrians cyclists horses cars motorbikes or even trucks if they can fit, we also have O R P A 's where it gets slightly more complicated , these are other routes of public access which can strangely have the same conditions as anything up to boat status, Restricted Byways: a highway over which the public is entitled to travel on foot, horseback and with non-mechanically propelled vehicles (such as pedal cycles and horse-drawn vehicles). There may also be a right to drive animals along a restricted byway, we also have rules that dogs should be kept under control in any public space, meaning a dog that isn't well trained needs to be on a lead, the other thing is where this lady was on a bridleway has signs by the farmers to keep dogs on a lead as there are livestock, she clearly had not even looked at the fingerpost where she entered the bridleway which even has symbols of a horse , pedestrian and a bike she even said where I come from tracks like this are all footpaths so she clearly had no idea about the status of the track she was on, this is a very brief summary of access in England, theres a lot more other rules but these are the basic ones for most of us in England, Scotland has different rules, hope this makes it clearer
